Frequently asked questions

Where does the industry data come from?

From Resparo's own study of 797 real local businesses across 20 industries and 4 countries, the same dataset behind our public research page. The per-industry average rating and median review count are computed straight from that sample.

Is a 4.5 a good Google rating?

It depends on your industry. In our data 72% of local businesses sit between 4.5 and 4.9 stars and the overall average is 4.68, so 4.5 is solid but middle of the pack. Some categories like chiropractors and electricians average above 4.9, while hotels and pharmacies average under 4.0. The tool compares you to your own category.

Why does my review count look low next to the median?

Some industries accumulate far more reviews than others. Restaurants in our sample have a median of over 3,700 reviews while chiropractors sit around 300. We compare your count to the median for your specific industry, not a blanket number, so a 'low' count may be perfectly normal for you.

Do I need to connect anything?

No. You can type your rating and review count by hand. If you'd rather not, you can look your business up on Google with no account and we'll fill in your live numbers for you. Nothing is saved.
